Germaicans,
welcome to the May/June issue of the Germaican Observer!

How often do you see some ads claiming that "someone presents proudly something"? But, in this particular case, we think that GERMAICA.NET has got every right to feel seriously and honestly proud about presenting a really outstanding event, no other than:

DAVID RODIGAN'S 25th ANNIVERSARY BASHMENT!

On friday April 25th, the Jubilee Tour started when Sir Rodigan mashed up the "Hottafire Reggae Station" at Leipzig's Distillery Club. The nicely decorated venue was packed and nearly bust when Rodi took over at around 1 a.m. Starting with some awesome old school plates like Horace Andy "Don't Think About Me" and Derrick Morgan "Rodi Don't Fear" (a.k.a. Rougher Than Rough). For the next four hours Rodigan's set took the enthusiastic crowd on a par-force ride through everything that makes Reggae music interesting, spanning from today's mayor Dancehall artistes to rarest-of-the-rare King Tubbys dubs, 80s bubblers and 90s killers, classic Wailers stuff including an unbelievable Rocksteady cut of "Keep On Moving" (alone worth the entrance fee), and even some current productions made in Germany. At least 2/3 of the selection were dub-plates and overall it was just great for both music and vibes!
That's why we can only recommend the event and bawl out:
"Play it again, Rodi! And make the people jump with joy..."
MAKE IT A DATE AND DON"T BE LATE!

Rumours spreading for a while already, but now it's official: Germaican Records come with the next chapter of last year's successful Foundation riddim Doctor's Darling! The unexpected success of Tanya Stephens "It's A Pity" (the tune gonna appear on the next VP Reggae Gold, by the way her first Reggae recording after her time in Sweden), lead up to the decision to voice an "International Leg" of the riddim. Featured on the five 45's are the Grammy Kid, Michael Rose, Sizzla, Junior Kelly, Capleton and Luciano.
