Germaicans,
welcome to the ultimate 2004 issue of the Germaican Observer!

And what a year it was for Germaican!
The release of the first German produced One-Riddim-Album ever "Doctor's Darling" through VP Records in March, the biggest Reggae show ever in Germaica's capital Leipzig with the "Link Up!" Festival and the 15th Anniversary of the Original Leipzig Rudebwoys Messer Banzani in May, The Germaicans backing 10 out of 18 Reggae Artistes at this year's Splash! Festival in Chemnitz/Germany in August and 5 Years Germaican Records with two Greatest Hits Compilations "Premium Stars" and "German Stars" in September...

Now it's time to round up the Germaican Jubilee Year 2004 with the Soundsystem that started to introduce Dancehall Music in East Germany exactly 10 years ago: Far East!
It was on December 17th 1994 when Buju Banton's "Murderer" on the "Far East" Riddim blared out of the speakers to mark the dawning of a new era here in Leipzig… and the original Far East Soundsystem is gearing up again for an exclusive 10 Year Anniversary Bashment on Dec. 24th 2004 at Leipzig's Distillery! Nadine talked with General Ralf, founder and Selector of Far East about the beginnings and his expectations for this unique show…

The Riddim Report is dedicated to another Germaican ´Jubilist´, the Messer Banzani Crew. Founded by Tom and Pionear back in 1989, the band evolved not only into Germany's first Dancehall Outlet nowadays known as Germaican Records, but also provided the musical and visionary breeding ground for todays No.1 German backing Band, the Far East Band!
To celebrate 15 Years Messer Banzani the two producers teamed up again to create the next Germaican Records Killer Riddim, the self-titled "Messer Banzani" Riddim!

Beside top Jamaican entertainers Sizzla, Vybz Kartel, Cobra, Capleton, Admiral Tibet and Gregory Isaacs and Germany's own Dr. Ring-Ding, the "Messer Banzani" Riddim also features the Germaican Scout Project with DeeJays Ill Inspecta & Bobby Buster with their tune "All A Di Gal Dem". On scout.germaica.net you can download the Video for the song recently shot at Leipzig's monthly "Hotta Fire" bashment. Also downloadable are their tunes on the current Germaican Records Jamaica release "Cure".
Finally you can check Picture Books of their just finished tour with Pionear and Bassrunner Sound from Vienna of Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Serbia & Montenegro and a show in Aachen/Germany!

The Tape/CD of the Month was actually released on tape only in 1998! But the germaica.net crew wanted to give you a real special one to commemorate this year… Far East "No.1 - Where We Come From" was the first dancehall mixtape in town and features a Selection Side as well as an entirely self-produced Soundbwoy Side with rare dubs and productions from the Pre-Germaican-Era!

We wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2005!

keepin' it real,
the germaica.net crew
