Privacy Policy
§ 1 General Information on the Collection of Personal Data
(1) Below, we inform you about the collection of personal data when you use our website. Personal data is all information that relates to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes your name, date of birth, address, email address, telephone number, account details, and user behavior.
(2) The “controller” according to Art. 4 (7) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Leander Topp, hereinafter referred to as “we” or “us.”
(3) If you contact us by email, we will store the data provided (in particular your email address, and if applicable, your name and telephone number) solely for the purpose of answering your question.
If storage is no longer necessary, we will delete the data. In cases where we are legally obliged to retain data, we limit processing to the extent necessary to fulfill these legal obligations.
§ 2 Cookies
Our web hosting provider (united-domains AG, located in Germany) and its partners use cookies to provide the relevant services. This also applies when you visit our website or access our services.
A “cookie” is a small data packet that is assigned to your device when you visit a web page on this website. Cookies are useful and can be used for various purposes. These include, for example, facilitating navigation between different pages, automatically activating certain functions, saving your preferences, and optimizing access to our services. The use of cookies also enables us to show you relevant advertising tailored to your interests and to collect statistical information about your use of our services.
This website uses the following types of cookies:
a. “Session cookies,” which ensure normal system usage. Session cookies are only stored for a limited time during a session and are deleted from your device as soon as you close your browser.
b. “Persistent cookies,” which are only read by the website and are not deleted when you close the browser window, but are stored on your computer for a specific period of time. This type of cookie allows us to identify you on your next visit and, for example, to save your preferences.
c. “Third-party cookies,” which are set by other online services that have their own content on the page you visit. These may be, for example, external web analytics companies that record and analyze access to our website.
Cookies do not contain any personal data that identifies you, but the personal data we store may be linked by us to the data contained in the cookies. You can delete cookies via your device’s settings. Follow the instructions provided. Please note that disabling cookies may limit certain features of our website.
§ 3 Log Files
(1) Each time you use our website, your internet browser automatically sends certain information to the web server of our website operator or site provider (united-domains AG, located in Germany), which stores it in log files in Apache log format. The following information is stored in the log files for a maximum of 14 days (the legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR):
IP address of the device accessing germaica.net
Date and time of the request
Name of the service provider used to access the online service
Name of the files or information accessed
Referrer, if any (source/reference from which you accessed the site)
Operating system and information about the internet browser used (client)
(2) The log files are stored by the website operator exclusively for the purpose of detecting disruptions and for security reasons (e.g., to investigate attempted attacks) for a maximum of 30 days and are then deleted. Log files whose continued retention is required for evidentiary purposes are exempt from deletion until the respective incident has been finally resolved and may be passed on to investigative authorities in individual cases.
§ 4 Transfer of data to third parties
(1) We generally do not transfer your personal data to third parties. However, data may be transferred to third parties if we are required to do so by law or by enforceable administrative or court order.
§ 5 External Services
SoundCloud Audio
Our website uses services from “SoundCloud,” a platform for audio material operated by SoundCloud Limited, Rheinsberger Str. 76/77, 10115 Berlin, Germany. We use SoundCloud by embedding individual audio files or playlists from the platform on our website as so-called iFrames, so that they can be played directly on our website.
When you visit a page on our website that contains an embedded audio file, a connection to the SoundCloud servers is established, and the audio file is displayed within our website. This transmits to SoundCloud which website you have visited. Your IP address may also be transmitted to SoundCloud. If you play an embedded audio file, this information will also be passed on to SoundCloud.
If you are logged in as a SoundCloud user, SoundCloud will assign this data to your user account. Further information on data protection at SoundCloud can be found at soundcloud.com/pages/privacy.
Videos from YouTube
We use components (videos) from YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., 94066 San Bruno, CA, USA (hereinafter: “YouTube”), a company of Google Inc., Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (hereinafter: “Google”), on our website based on consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
We use the “enhanced data protection mode” option provided by YouTube.
When you access a page that contains an embedded video, a connection is established to the YouTube servers, and the content is displayed on the website by sending a message to your browser.
According to YouTube, in “enhanced privacy mode,” your data—in particular, which of our websites you have visited and device-specific information, including your IP address—will only be transmitted to the YouTube server in the USA if you watch the video. By clicking on the video, you consent to this transmission.
If you are logged in to YouTube at the same time, this information will be assigned to your YouTube account. You can prevent this by logging out of your account before visiting our website.
Google adheres to the data protection provisions of the “US Privacy Shield” and is registered with the “US Privacy Shield” program of the US Department of Commerce.
Further information on data protection in connection with YouTube can be found in Google’s privacy policy.
