It’s obvious that there’s a new Dancehall star producer in the making… EMIR „YOUTHMAN“ KOBILICs first release, the YU GO! RIDDIM took Europe by storm immediately and within weeks bootleg versions in all corners of the continent popped up, wheather in Italy, Spain or Bulgaria. So the idea was born to expand the riddim to the different territories and first up is our strongest sub division GERMAICA IBERIA with their cut of the YU GO! pie.
Already in February we released the pre single of the YU GO! IBERIA – ZURIs LA CUENTA ATRÁS which is a fine blend of classic Flamenco with YOUTHMANs hardcore Dancehall pattern and of course the Balkan flavoured sample from Bosnian 80s music. To prove even further how close the music styles of the BALKANS and IBERIA are IJAH & LITTLE PEPE with HASTA EL FONDO and SHABU with SOLO PARA MÍ felt obviously inspired to deliver renditions to their Andalusian home turf with songs that could easily stand the test of any Flamenco expert.
RAPSUSKLEI, originating from Zaragoza, is a real Heavyweight in the Spanish Hip Hop circuit and delivers maybe the most astonishing track of the riddim with his Hater Anthem SHA-LA-LA. Next up is THEE spanish veteran MR. RANGO from Madrid with MR. MENTION. Representing the Basque country is Hardcore DeeJay NOVATO from Bilbao. Finally the new dogg on the GERMAICA IBERIA compound is Talaveran LASAI who lately moved to Madrid. He delivers a nice Ladies tune to round up this first official riddim release of our label…

ZURI is a Spanish Artist, from the Andalucian city of Marbella, who mixes Flamenco music with Reggae and Dancehall Riddims. 2006 – 2008 he was part of Barcelonean band OJOS DE BRUJO which in 2007 he won the Latin EMI award with. In 2010 he published his first solo album called “Candela” which put him in the front row of Spanish Reggae Artists.
Now he’s releasing his first single with the GERMAICA label to show a wider European audience his originality and fusion of different music styles. The infectious „Yu Go! Some people were complaining that they can’t watch SHABUs „Por siempre y una tarde“ from some locations outside of Spain. GERMAICA IBERIA está de vuelta con una nueva referencia del más elegante Reggae bajo el brazo. Tras la indudable buena acogida de sus dos anteriores referencias, este sello sigue apostando por la música jamaicana facturada en Málaga. En esta ocasión, hablamos del álbum debut de LITTLE PEPE: “De Málaga hacia el mundo”, un disco muy completo que demuestra una vez más la versatilidad de este artista Malagüeño.
El titulo alude al sentido y espíritu internacional que late en este trabajo, con colaboraciones que cruzan fronteras y continentes. Ello da como resultado una mezcla exquisita que deviene una gran riqueza musical, del Reggae, Roots al Hip Hop, pasando por el Dancehall, con incluso algunos matices electrónicos.
Este trabajo marcará un punto de inflexión en la escena Reggae nacional, ya que la frescura musical que desprende atrapa desde el primer hasta el último tema. Su primer sencillo es “A trabajar”, una producción noruega de Basmo Family en la que LITTLE PEPE explica desde lo más hondo de su ser la cruda realidad del mundo de la musica.
La vertiente más Dancehall del disco cruza 3 de los 5 continentes. Así, desde Europa, llega el inglés General Levy (UK) en “Baila Cruel” y el francés Daddy Mory en “Make Money”. Desde África, concretamente desde Gambia, llega Rebellion The Recaller en “Tiempos Duros” y desde América… Daddy Banton en “A los manes del control” representando Costa Rica.
Parte del éxito de estos tracks se debe a las talentosas producciones de Bassrunner (Austria), que aporta la fuerza instrumental. Por su parte, el el groove más electrónico viene de la mano de Baymont Bross en “Baila Cruel”.
El Hip Hop se queda mayoritariamente en tierras andaluzas de la mano de dos pesos pesados de la escena: Jefe de la M y Gordomaster (Triple X) en el himno “More Fyah”, además de Juho y sus compañeros de viaje Pinnacle Rockers en “Push” y Dj Pera en las producciones y los scractches de “Producto del Barrio” o “El guiso”. El tema que representa el Hip Hop en estado puro viene directamente de Detroit de la mano de Black Milk, uno de los nombres más relevantes en las listas norteamericanas, con dos versiones de “Champion Sound”: diferentes aromas de la mano de dos grandes productores alemanes: Soulforce desde Krefeld y D-Fekt/Pionear desde Leipzig.
El Reggae Roots tiene marca austriaca gracias a la gran aportación de la banda House of Riddim, con dos producciones que enamorarán a los amantes de los sonidos más Reggae con “Descansen en Paz” y “Rising Up” en colaboración con New Kingston (banda y trío vocal de New York, conocidos por ser la banda de Collie Buddz aunque en esta vez su aportación sea como vocalistas). Desde Alemania llega Jr Blender y Silly Walks, quienes ponen su granito de arena en el éxito “Lo tengo que dar”. Sin olvidar que también en nuestro país se hace buen Roots, muestra de ello son las producciones de Ras Kuko en “Quiere lo tuyo” y “Sigue tu vida”, asi como Black Akadehmy en “Que no te enteras”.

El nombre del riddim fue también un guiño al legendario sello Jamaicano „Exterminator“, quien fue uno de los pioneros en promocionar el “New Roots Reggae”. Los artistas elegidos en esta serie han sabido hacer resurgir el estilo Toaster y SingJay de la época.

Los cantantes malagueños LITTLE PEPE y SHABU, dos de las voces más originales y comprometidas del Reggae en español, lanzan juntos su primer disco en formato ‘split álbum’, de ahí su título “Compartiendo”. Este trabajo, compuesto de 15 cortes y producido íntegramente por el también malagueño RAS JOUQMAHI, lo edita GERMAICA IBERIA, la filial española del prestigioso sello europeo de reggae GERMAICAN RECORDS, y lo distribuye BOA MUSIC.
Además de ser el primer disco para dos artistas cuyo éxito ha radicado hasta ahora en un particular fenómeno de fans con base en internet, estamos ante el primer trabajo de estas características en la escena del género reggae en nuestro país: dos voces melódicas, con letras cargadas de mensaje, sobre las composiciones musicales de un productor multiinstrumentista que tras largos años de experimentación ha logrado forjar un sonido fresco e inconfundiblemente propio.
“Compartiendo” tiene una estructura bastante simétrica, tanto en forma como en contenido. En cuanto a la distribución de los cortes, el disco se abre con la intro, única pista en la que aparecen juntas ambas voces, que da paso a 14 canciones, 7 de Shabu y 7 de Little Pepe, dispuestas alternativamente. Este aparente orden simétrico se desvanece cuando nos adentramos en el universo orgánico y policromático del disco escuchado como unidad, cargado de detalles, florituras y sutilezas.

LITTLE PEPE & SHABU – hailing from the Andalucían Málaga – two of the most original and promising voices of Spanish Reggae, announce their first official album release. It comes as a a split album called “Compartiendo” (“Sharing”). All 15 tracks were produced by also Málaga-based RAS JOUQMAHI and edited by GERMAICA IBERIA, the recently created Spanish sub-branch of the prestigious European Reggae label GERMAICAN RECORDS from Leipzig/Saxony. The distribution will be handled by the Spanish No.1 in Urban music BOA.
Apart from being the first release for both artists, whose success was rooted until now in a particular good response from the internet fan-community, we find ourselves in front of the very first work with the characteristics of a split album in Spain: two melodic voices singing conscious lyrics with deep messages upon musical compositions from a producer “multi-instrumentalist” who after years of experience has created a fresh and distinctive sound.
“Compartiendo” counts with a well balanced and symmetric structure, regarding both format as well as content. The opening intro is also the only combination of both singers, followed by 14 more tracks, 7 of each singer (sometimes on the same rhythm track), in an alternate order.
This appearently rigid frame blurs away once inside the organic and polichromatic universe of the album, listening to it as an undividable unit, charged with countless subtile decorative ornaments.
