ZURI is a Spanish Artist, from the Andalucian city of Marbella, who mixes Flamenco music with Reggae and Dancehall Riddims. 2006 – 2008 he was part of Barcelonean band OJOS DE BRUJO which in 2007 he won the Latin EMI award with. In 2010 he published his first solo album called “Candela” which put him in the front row of Spanish Reggae Artists.
Now he’s releasing his first single with the GERMAICA label to show a wider European audience his originality and fusion of different music styles. The infectious „Yu Go! Riddim“ produced by Emir „Youthman“ Kobilic is the solid base for his love song „La cuenta atrás“ („The countdown“), in which he describes the wait of a lover until he will finally see his lady again.

Nicknamed the GERMAICA VIKINGZ by us JODDSKI, JAN STEEZY and DRAHPAA are RAGGABALDER RIDDIM REBELS, the Dancehall Soundsystem started by JODDSKI and STEEZY in 2001, out of frustration over Oslos lack of Dancehall clubs. JODDSKI is credited with making the Norwegian language credible for rapping in, and the 2 of them have toured Norway since 2000, up to 2007 with POPPA LARS, making up legendary hiphop band TUNGTVANN. Included JODDSKIs current solo career we are at sometething like 6 albums, 4 eps and countles mixtapes, singles and colloborations.
RAGGABALDER have since 2001 shared stage with everyone from BEENIE MAN to LEE „SCRATCH“ PERRY, played all over Europe, won the Oslo club award, held regular clubs all over Norway and dropped a handful of mixtapes. RAGGABALDER favor cutting edge Dancehall over Rastafari and Rub-a-Dub – though playing those styles when in the mood. This time around they include Grime and Hip Hop as well in their selection. RAGGABALDER take their genre deadly serious, but unpretentious, and are known for creative and unexpected Dubplates and Bashment Vibes, as well as putting their Hip Hop background to full use.
Today sees their return from the hiatus they started in 2009. A break they have used to DJ seperately, explored other genres as well as touring and releasing albums with JODDSKIs solo act. „Blå“ has held quite a few classic RAGGABALDER sessions, so the Oslo club is a no-brainer as far as where the comeback will be held. Euphoric through the whole comeback, JODDSKI has compiled and mixed 2 Mixtapes with a total of 2 hrs 45 min of his favourite Dancehall, Reggae, Rap and Grime tunes from 2011. Everything done in classic RAGGABALDER fashion. He presents world premieres from WARD 21 and GENERAL DEGREE, as well as a combination from JODDSKI himself and SIRKUS ELIASSEN on the infectious „Yu Go! Riddim“, built by Swedish Bosnian EMIR „YOUTHMAN“ KOBILIC, and released by GERMAICA DIGITAL. Some people were complaining that they can’t watch SHABUs „Por siempre y una tarde“ from some locations outside of Spain. So for all aficionados here’s the link for the 3rd single of his debut album „La cura“ (GERMAICA IBERIA/BOA) which will be released today in his home country. The instrumental was provided by SUPERSONICs own JR. BLENDER and the vocals produced by PIONEAR aka PIONERO at the studio of BIG HOZONE who was the producer of SHABUs already legendary street tape „Luz verde“.

After Austrian newcomer TOM HYPE who’s single debut „Euros“ was videoed last month now it’s the SHABU & REBELLION combination „Keep Me Original“ who is released as a video. Shot at locations in Frigiliana and Málaga/España directed by JUHO LOZANO GONZÁLEZ and edited by GERMAICAs own ROBERT SOUJON it visualizes the musical link up between Spain and Gambia – the home countries of the protagonists.

German version below… 2011 sees the start of our latest European division GERMAICA AUSTRIA with TOM HYPE being the first Artiste to represent the „Dancehall from the Alps“. His debut single „Euros“ on the UPLIFTMENT INT’L/DREADSQUAD produced brand new „Question? Riddim“ is gaining momentum in TOMs home country and so the next logical step is to release a video for the tune. It was shot in January at locations of the GERMAICA capital Leipzig where TOM HYPE recorded further material for UPLIFTMENT INT’L to be released in the course of the next months. After the positive initial feedback on the UPLIFTMENT INT’L debut release „Question?“ the Sound decided to provide all supporters with an additional tune on the Riddim. From now on MR. UPLIFTMENT INT’L will leave Leipzig/Germaica today to play 3 release parties in Poland where the instrumental of the Riddim was created by DREADSQUAD. The shows gonna be: Feb03 Wroclaw/Plan Bashment w/EASTWEST SOUND and CHEEBA (live!), Feb04 Kraków/Bledne Kolo w/REVOLDA SOUND and Feb05 Warszawa/Klub Mandala w/DANCEHALL MASAK-RAH. So all „Polski Badmaijnski“ line up for the in-official „Polish Vodka Tour 2011“!
RHYTHM & FLOW our Bredrinos from Barcelona are once more in the process of bringing a Jamaiacan Artiste to Europe. And once again DJ FLO of UPLIFTMENT INT’L provided a fine Artiste Mix to display the talent of a young crooner: NICKY B.
„Kingston’s Finest“ contains Songs and Dubs as well as some great features with big names such as: Snoop Dogg, Beenie Man, Agent Sasco or Cécile. NICKY B has developed his own sound called R&D (Rhythm & Dancehall). It’s a hybrid between the Jamaican sounds of Reggae and Dancehall and American Pop and R&B. Artists such as R. Kelly, Marvin Gaye and Craig David stand out in his list of musical influences.
